Yes, Allan Dovigi DDS MS is an Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologist, a specialist with full residency training in pathology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. This training included clinical oral medicine and surgical pathology, which is the microscopic diagnosis of disease from a biopsy. During his residency Dr Dovigi had rotations in general pathology with medical colleagues. This included performing autopsies, molecular pathology, and various other general pathology aspects of medicine.  Many systemic diseases first appear in the mouth, and many oral manifestations of systemic diseases can be managed by Dr Dovigi. 

Dr. Dovigi is not contracted with any third party insurance. Third party insurance can interfere with the doctor-patient relationship and limit treatment options. This allows us to keep our fees as low as possible. 

The average cost for a new patient examination is $185.00. The first appointment usually takes less than one hour. Dr Dovigi may spend more time after this appointment examining lab reports, radiographs and other diagnostic information to formulate a diagnosis and optimal treatment plan for you. This additional time is included in the new patient exam fee. Additional fees for recall exams or injection of medications are separate and estimates for these services are available upon request.

It is best to come to your appointment prepared with any recent lab reports or radiographs, if possible. These files can usually be obtained electronically. You can bring them on your phone or email them to our secure address drdovigi@gmail.com. Doing so enables a quicker and more accurate diagnosis. It has been our experience that when we request medical records or radiographs from our patients' providers we experience delays which can slow down the process by weeks or months.
